Salvation Army Tri-City Corps to host food pantry drive Aug. 15

The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps is seeking community support for its Community Center food pantry in St. Charles.

The food drive collection will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at the Community Center, 1710 S. Seventh Ave., St. Charles. A table will be set up in the parking lot to accept donations.

Help the Salvation Army replenish food pantry supplies by donating nonperishable goods, as well as personal hygiene items.

The Salvation Army Tri-City Corps, led by Lieutenants Scott and Dena Smith, has experienced a tremendous increase in demand this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The corps food pantry has served the same number of individuals in the first seven months of this year, as it did in all of 2019.

The list of requested items includes: diapers/pull-ups (especially sizes 5 and 6); baby wipes; shampoo/conditioner; toothpaste; deodorant; soap; maxi pads and tampons; adult Depend; laundry soap; dish soap; paper towels and facial tissues; canned ravioli and Spaghetti-o's; canned fruit; canned tuna or chicken; canned beans or vegetables; condiments (mustard, mayo, ketchup, etc.); jelly; peanut butter; pancake mix; syrup; cereal; baking staples (flour, sugar, etc.); coffee and tea; pasta; pasta sauce

macaroni and cheese; stuffing and instant mashed potatoes; and brown paper grocery bags.
