Does your pet want to go for a ride?

Bring your furry best friend to the annual Kane County Animal Control Rabies and Microchip Animal Clinic on Saturday, June 27, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 4060 Keslinger Road in Geneva.

The clinic will be conducted drive-through style.

Dog and cat owners just pull up in their vehicle and let the staff and volunteers do the work. People do not need to get out of their cars, but are asked to please wear a mask so everyone remains safe and protected.

The cost of a one-year rabies vaccine (with tag) is $20 for neutered pets, $35 for non-neutered and $10 for seniors with pets.

Microchip ID tags are also available for $15. Cash, check, VISA and MasterCard are accepted.

The clinic will run with two teams, each consisting of a doctor and kennel workers, plus clerks to process paperwork and finances. The kennel workers will leash the pet and transport them to the exam station.

While the medical crew performs the exam and vaccinations, a clerk completes the rabies certificate and another handles payment. Once the procedure is completed, the vet will communicate with the owner in their car. After each vehicle pulls away, the staff cleans the station for the next client.

The animal control staff maintains proper infection control by wearing masks, gloves and scrub tops. Their goal is to help treat the animals in need and still provide a much-needed resource during these complicated times.
