State Senator and 14th Congressional District Republican nominee Jim Oberweis is leading a group of Republican Kane County elected officials and candidates in a service project. On Saturday, June 6, they will distribute free Community Care Packages to people in need at Pal Joey's Restaurant, 2030 Main St. (southwest corner of Randall and Main) in Batavia, via a drive-thru, no contact, delivery system.

The event will be from 2 to 3 p.m. The Care Package will include fresh Oberweis Dairy milk, protective masks, hand sanitizer, and assorted food items. There will be approximately 350 bags distributed, until supplies run out.

The group of Republicans in Kane held two successful similar events in Elgin and St. Charles on May 16. Sen. Oberweis also provided milk at drives in Yorkville, Harvey, and Chicago.

"The need is great at this time with unemployment high, and businesses closed or limited by the Governor. We want to bring some help and encouragement to the people," Oberweis said.

Jeanette Ward, the Republican nominee for Senate District 25, was a sponsor of the Elgin, St. Charles, and Yorkville events. She added, "Families are hurting and I am glad to be part of a team that can be a blessing to them."

Cars will arrive at Pal Joey's and elected officials, candidates and volunteers will place the bags in a popped trunk or the back seat of the car for a smooth and safe delivery.
