Park District offering in-person and at home programing in June

Hoffman Estates, IL. Hoffman Estates Park District, HEParks, released their June Program Guide this week which included both in-person and at home programming.

HEParks in-person programming includes mini summer camps, hockey and figure skating lessons, drawing, fishing, cultural arts, and martial arts. HEParks is allowing for customers to secure their registration in programs without upfront payment. Payment for each program will be automatically charged to the payment method selected at the time registration on June 5.

In preparation for the new in-person programming, the District developed cleaning and safety measures. Class sizes are limited to 10 students. Instructors and students will wear face masks while in programs. Between programs, all classrooms will be disinfected and cleaned according to CDC guidelines. HEParks in-person programs will be drop-off and pick-up only with District staff escorting students to and from classrooms.

New this session, HEParks is offering Camp in a Box at-home kits. These themed activity boxes are perfect for families staying at home during the summer, and families with adults working at home. The $20 themed boxes contain crafts, games, snacks, and activities for the entire family. Themes include Beach/Summer, Camping/Outdoor Fun, Mermaids & Unicorns, and Pirates. Camp in a Box can be purchased at HEParks.org using ID# 235090.

Continuing in June are the poplar at home programs run via virtual meetings and pre-recorded classes. These classes became popular at the beginning of the Stay-at-Home order and have expanded to include music, dance, sports training, STEM, eSports, and Dungeons & Dragons™. "We are excited about the new at-home programs offered this summer," said Director of Recreation Alisa Kapusinski. "HEParks staff created engaging and exciting programs that are different than traditional Park District programming. We believe that at-home programming is a great way to offer alternate forms of recreation to modern busy families."

The HEParks June Program Guide can be found online at HEParks.org. The District accepts registration from Hoffman Estates Park District residents and non-residents.
