High school students invited to Harper open house

High school students and their parents are invited to visit Harper College and discover why it's an ideal place to start their higher education journey.

The High School Open House begins at 5 p.m. Thursday, March 19, in the Student Center (Building A) on the college's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine. Check-in starts at 4:30 p.m.

High school students will have the opportunity to join interactive tours to explore campus and learn about studying abroad, the University Center's four-year degree options, and the new Makerspace and Entrepreneur Center.

Leaders of various student clubs and organizations will show visitors how to get involved on campus, while faculty will be on hand to answer questions families may have about their fields of expertise.

Representatives from student support offices, including the Academic Support Center, Athletics, Access and Disability Services, Student Involvement, Scholarships and New Student Orientation, will also be available to meet with students.

Parent breakout sessions will cover topics such as the Engineering Pathways program (offering students guaranteed admission to the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign's Grainger College of Engineering), apprenticeships, transfer options, success strategies, choosing an academic area of interest, Harper's new Summer Launch program and financial aid.

Latinx students and families are invited to join a Spanish-language breakout session.
