ECC students can spend their summer in Italy

Elgin Community College, in partnership with Centro Studi Italiani, offers a new, faculty-led summer study abroad program in Urbania, Italy.

The program provides students an immersive experience to learn the Italian language and culture. The four-week program runs from May 17 to June 14, 2020.

Urbania, Italy, is a small town located about a four-hour drive from Rome.

Nestled between the Apennine Mountains and the Adriatic Sea, Urbania is known as an ancient center of art and culture.

Students will have the chance to fully immerse themselves in a safe and unspoiled environment and focus on their studies.

Accommodations will be through homestay, where students live with a host family to experience a genuine Italian lifestyle and sample the warmth of Italian hospitality in an authentic and unforgettable environment.

The program is open to all ECC students with an interest in the culture, traditions, and language of Italy.

The application deadline is Friday, Feb. 28.

For students interested in studying abroad in Italy for a more extended period of time, ECC also offers semester programs in Florence, Rome, Tuscany, and Venice.

The application deadline is May 15 for the fall term, and Oct. 15 for the spring term.

However, programs are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so prospective applicants are encouraged to apply early.
