Wild Ones to host screening of 'Living the Change' Jan. 23

The Northern Kane County chapter of the Wild Ones invites the community to a screening of the 2018 documentary "Living the Change: Inspiring Stories for a Sustainable Future" at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 23, at Christ the Lord Lutheran Church, 12N462 Tina Trail in Elgin. Admission is free; popcorn is included.

The film explores solutions to the global climate crises, including inspiring stories of everyday people implementing change in their own lives and communities to begin to live in a sustainable and regenerative way.

Directors Jordan Osmond and Antoinette Wilson have brought together stories from their travels around New Zealand, along with interviews with experts explaining how we come to be where we are today. From forest gardens to composting toilets, community supported agriculture to timebanking, "Living the Change" offers ways to rethink your approach to daily life.

The Northern Kane County Illinois Chapter of Wild Ones was founded in 2009 as a chapter of Wild Ones. Chapter members are committed to promoting the use of native plants in landscaping, gardening, naturescaping and land restoration. Wild Ones is a nonprofit environmental education and advocacy organization.

The mission of Wild Ones is to promote native plants, natural landscapes, and environmentally sound landscaping practices to preserve biodiversity through the preservation, restoration and establishment of native plant communities. Wild Ones continues to lead the natural landscaping movement as they explore, teach, and change the practice of gardening in local communities and around the country to using native plants.
