Facebook, Military Mama Network to host Wrapping Party Dec. 15

This Sunday, Dec. 15, Facebook is coming to Plainfield to host a special Wrapping Party to package gifts for children of active duty military all across the world.

As part of its More Together campaign, which celebrates the power of Facebook Groups, Facebook has partnered with Military Mama Network, a Facebook Group that started in Joliet to support activity duty military, veterans and their families.

Last week, Facebook launched unique, brick-and-mortar Holiday Pop-Up Shops in N.Y., L.A. and Chicago to raise awareness for Military Mama Network and inspire in-person giving.

Now, Facebook and members of Military Mama Network are hosting 10 Wrapping Parties across the country, turning funds raised into holiday gifts for children who might not otherwise get to experience the magic of the season.

Military Mama Network "Elves" will be wrapping gifts from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday at Wesmere Elementary School in Plainfield. Those gifts, as well as hand-written notes composed by supporters at the Holiday Pop-Ups, will be distributed to children and families in need this holiday season.

Geriann Wiesbrook founded Military Mama Network in Joliet when her son began serving in the Army. Today the Facebook group has more than 18,000 members and supports families in all 50 states and 43 countries.
