98-year-old Wheaton woman thanks good Samaritan delivery driver

Ninety-eight-year-old Marjorie Ostermeier has a lot to be thankful for this holiday season.

Back in September, she was outside her home and fell in her driveway.

She was on the ground, unable to get up due to a broken hip.

Lucky for Marge she fell just before a package was being delivered to her neighbor's house.

Marge called out for his help and UPS delivery driver Mike Ramirez stayed with her until help arrived. Mike was able to assist her to call her family and even went to grab some patio cushions for her comfort.

Once help arrived Mike went back to work delivering packages for UPS.

Fast forward to today: Marge now lives at an assisted living community in Wheaton. She continues to get some physical therapy for her broken hip but she wanted the chance to be able to thank her good Samaritan in person.

The staff at Travanse Senior Living contacted customer service at UPS and they were able to pinpoint the driver based on tracking information.

The staff at Travanse surprised Marge with a party to honor Mike in front of the entire community.

Local Wheaton businesses like Starbucks, Nothing Bundt Cakes, and Steamboat BBQ all pitched in to give Mike a hero's welcome.

Marge was able to stand long enough to hug Mike and give him the proper appreciation he deserves.

The staff at Travanse invited everyone to come back in January when they plan to release 99 red balloons for Marge's next birthday!
