Register Now for Colorful Fall Art Classes at the Adler Center

The David Adler Music and Arts Center announces open registration for NEW Art Classes, individual music and art lessons, as well as Early Childhood Music and Movement, Scout programs and more. Register today for group art classes, Suzuki string classes, and piano, voice, guitar, violin, viola, cello, and ukulele lessons. Students may register and begin private lessons at any time.

New Session of Group Art Classes

A wide variety of art classes for children and adults are taught in picturesque studios surrounding David Adler historic home. Register now for group art classes beginning in early November. Beginners are always welcome and private art instruction is also available.

Youth Art: Famous Fun Artists! (Ages 5-8) Learn to paint like Eric Carle from The Hungry Caterpillar, and explore the art of Matisse, Van Gogh and Picasso. Get messy with acrylic paint, watercolors, pastels, mixed media and all sorts of fun techniques! Tuesdays, 4:30-5:45 pm.

Youth Art: Comic Book Kids (Ages 9-13) Recreate your favorites cartoons and comic book characters using pencils, markers, and paints! Explore Marvel, DC, Disney Studios, Nickelodeon, and create your own characters and comic strip to share in class. Tuesdays, 6:00-7:15 pm.

Adult/Teen Art: Painting with Pastels (Ages 14+) Draw in color! Investigate surface treatments, various techniques and approaches to the wonderful medium of pastel. Explore still life, portraits and landscape. For new and continuing students of all levels. Wednesdays, 6-8 pm.

Adult/Teen Art: Beginner Colored Pencil Botanical Drawing (Ages 14+) This class will introduce students to the color pencil, basic drawing techniques. The effects of the pencil on papers, layering, blending techniques and color effects. During this class, students will create 2 botanical colored pencil renderings. Thursdays, 6-8 pm.

Adult/Teen Art: Portraiture (Ages 14+) Whether you're new to portraiture or just want to improve your ability to capture a likeness, you'll develop your powers of observation while working from photos to create a tonal-value drawing. This will become your first step in progressing to a full-color portrait painting. Saturdays, 10 am - 12 pm.

Woodblock Print Holiday Cards (Ages 14+) Hand-carved woodblock prints make perfect holiday cards and gifts. Lean to use carving tools and printmaking inks. Explore hand-rubbing techniques to finish frameable art, or make handmade notecards. Wednesday, December 4, 6-9pm.

Early Childhood Music

Both Music and Movement and the Baroque to Baby Concert Series focus on learning music fundamentals in a cheerful and supportive environment where children sing and move and make great friends.

Baroque to Baby Family Concerts: These baby-friendly concerts are designed to encourage parents and caretakers to take a break in their day to share the joy of music with their babies and young children. Families are encouraged to relax, nurse, dance, cry--whatever the music and mood moves you to do!

Wednesday, November 20, 11am - 12pm featuring violin and viola with Juliet Dawson

Friday, December 21, 11am - 12pm featuring holiday songs with pianist, Rick Lowe

Music and Movement: Just like our Baroque to Baby series, but with a (yoga) twist! This hour-long interactive class is designed to encourage parents and caretakers to take a break in their day using movement and breath to reinforce early childhood executive functioning, motor, sensory, and social-emotional development through music and yoga play. For crawlers and up, with a grown-up. Wednesday, November 6, 11am - 12pm
