Learn to protect yourself against cybersecurity threats

A special agent with the FBI will visit Harper College to discuss the latest changes in cybersecurity.

The community is invited to a free information session, "FBI Update: Cybersecurity Threats, Trends, and Strategies," from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the Performing Arts Center on the college's main campus, 1200 W. Algonquin Road in Palatine.

Guest speaker Special Agent Kenneth "K.C." Bixby from the Chicago FBI Field Office will discuss current threats and trends in cybersecurity, how companies and individuals can apply safe computing practices, and how to better prepare against new cyberattacks.

Cybercrimes have accounted for $2 trillion in losses already in 2019, according to Juniper Research. Malicious email, malware, social-engineering attacks and other cyberthreats continue to bombard personal users and small to large organizations.

This learning opportunity is offered in collaboration with Harper IT, Human Resources and Workforce Solutions during Cybersecurity month.
