Local residents compete in World Pool Championships in Las Vegas, finishing 9th overall

Reddick, IL August 12, 2019 - Billiards 'R' Us of Chalk It Up in Manteno, Illinois, qualified for the 2019 APA 8-Ball World Championship, conducted by the American Poolplayers Association (APA), at the local World Qualifier in May.

They joined more than 700 other teams in Las Vegas and played at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, Aug. 8-13, competing for a world title and a portion of the $1 Million guaranteed cash and prizes. After, numerous rounds Billiards R' Us finished in 9th place at the World Pool Championship.

Billiards 'R' Us are members of the Kankakee Valley APA Pool League and participate in weekly league play at Chalk It Up in Manteno. Team members include Reggie Runnels, Oliver Lewis, Cameron Butler, Ronnie Jackson, Erron Butler, Rosalyn King, Rod Smith and Alex Crawford.

The APA, based in Lake Saint Louis, Mo., sanctions the world's largest amateur pool league, known as the APA Pool League throughout the United States and as the Canadian Pool League in Canada. Nearly 250,000 members compete in weekly 8-Ball and 9-Ball League play. The APA is generally recognized as the Governing Body of Amateur Pool, having established the official rules, championships, formats and handicap systems for the sport of amateur billiards.

The APA produces four major tournaments each year - the APA World Pool Championships, the APA Poolplayer Championships, the APA Junior Championships and the U.S. Amateur Championship - that, together, pay out nearly $2 Million in cash and prizes annually. In 2010, the APA World Pool Championships were recognized by Guinness World Records as the "world's largest pool tournament."

The APA and its Championships are sponsored by PoolDawg, Aramith, Action Cues and Valley-Dynamo.
