Spring Valley hosts stargazing party Aug. 10

Spring Valley Nature Center in Schaumburg will host a stargazing party from 8:30 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 10, at 1111 E. Schaumburg Road.

Weather permitting, attendees will get a close-up view of the Perseid meteor shower and constellations through a telescope, which will be available to attendees for $2 per person.

"The sky is the limit when it comes to understanding the universe," said Mary Rice, education coordinator. "This event takes place during the peak of the Perseid meteor shower, and we're excited to share this experience with local friends and families."

Inside, attendees can enjoy star-related activities. Outside, a campfire will be lit for marshmallow roasting.

Registration is not required.
