Schaumburg Police invites residents to Chats with the Brass

The Schaumburg Police Department would like to invite the public to attend its monthly "Chats with the Brass" meetings, formerly known as beat meetings.

To better serve the community, meetings will now begin at 6 p.m. and will continue to be held the third Thursday of each month.

The next meeting will be Thursday, Aug. 15, in the Community Room of the police department, 1000 W. Schaumburg Road. Future meetings will be held at the police department; however, there may be times when alternate locations will be used to make it more convenient for residents to attend.

Additional meeting information will be posted on the website at www.schaumburg.com.

During these meetings, attendees will be given the opportunity to discuss matters of concern with the police chief and command staff. Additionally, members of the police department will discuss current events and trends in law enforcement that may be of interest to the public. Some meetings will also feature educational sessions to create awareness on various public safety topics.

"These meetings allow our staff to stay connected with the community to understand concerns and identify how we can best serve our community and its residents," said Police Chief Bill Wolf.

"We are offering this new time and format to encourage more residents to attend meetings and join the conversation so that we can work together for a safer community."

Created to follow community policing, a progressive law enforcement model, beat meetings have been taking place in Schaumburg since the mid-1990s to allow police and community members to work together to identify and solve problems.
