Local Man Honored by American Cancer Society

North Barrington resident Mitchell Andrews recently accepted the inaugural Chicago Select Leadership Award presented by the American Cancer Society at their premier golf event held at Medinah Country Club.

Through serving on the Chicago Select Executive Committee for more than 20 years, Andrews has been instrumental in bringing in new leaders, sponsors and unique auction items. Since the Chicago Select Golf Invitational began 24 years ago, the event has raised $9 million for the fight against cancer.

"Mitchell has been such an outstanding supporter of the American Cancer Society and Chicago Select Golf Invitational that he was a natural choice when deciding the first recipient of this award," said Peter Steele, vice president of Distinguished Partners for the North Central Region of the American Cancer Society. "Not only is he a great golfer and successful businessman, when he asks others to support a cause, they listen. He has recruited and led countless volunteers that have been instrumental in making this event such a success."

The Chicago Select Golf Invitational is one of the longest running and most profitable golf events in the nation benefiting the American Cancer Society. Chicago Select was founded in 1995 by Keith Bank of KB Partners, LLC. In 2011, two stellar golf events, the Chicago Select Golf Invitational and the Metro Golf Classic, merged to carry on the tournaments' strong tradition of excellence.

In 2019 more than 320 golfers participated on all three courses and included corporate sponsors, business and philanthropic leaders, underwriters and distinguished guests.

A partner in the Plexus Groupe, officed in Deer Park, Andrews is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago, the Chicago Club, the National Association of Corporate Directors (NACD), Human Resources Management association of Chicago (HRMAC) and the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). He is a member of The Council of Insurance Agents & Brokers (CIAB) and sits on the board of The Council of Employee Benefits Executives Advisory Committee.

An alumnus of the University of Colorado Boulder, Andrews resides in North Barrington with his wife and four children.
