Third annual Library Loop 5K in Algonquin to have Halloween theme

The Algonquin Area Public Library District welcomes all runners and walkers to participate in its third annual Library Loop 5K at 8 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 27. This year's event will have a Halloween theme.

The race starts directly in front of the Harnish Main Library, 2600 Harnish Drive. Registration closes at 7:45 a.m. and the race begins at 8 a.m.

The 5K course winds its way around the neighborhoods and park district walking paths surrounding the library.

Cost for the 5K is $35, $32.50 for seniors, $15 for teens and $10 for youth. Online registration ends at 11:59 p.m. Oct. 26.

From tiny tots to seniors, runners/walkers of all ages are welcome to participate.

Proceeds from this year's 5K will help the library district continue to respond to community requests for equipment and services in the library's newly constructed spaces.

For those who can't attend the race, donations also are being accepted. The donation goal is $5,000. Donation levels include: Thriller for $200, Mystery for $175, Romance for $150, E-Books for $125, Biography for $100, Graphic Novel for $75, Sci-Fi for $50, Fantasy for $25, or Easy Readers; or choose a custom amount.
