Fairchild Morgan Law Welcomes Attorney Debra J. Stanek To Team
Fairchild Morgan Law, a corporate boutique law firm with offices in Chicago, Lake Forest and Milwaukee, is pleased to announce the addition of attorney Schaumburg resident Debra J. Stanek to its team. Stanek, who joins as Senior Counsel, is a seasoned lawyer and brings a wealth of experience in intellectual property and business law to the firm.

Throughout her career, Stanek has held roles both in-house and within a traditional, big law firm. Most recently, she served as the Assistant General Counsel and Data Protection officer for Wilton Brands LLC where she was responsible for overseeing intellectual property, marketing, and GDPR and data privacy compliance functions as well as managing the company's international trademark portfolio.
Stanek began her career with global law firm Sidley Austin LLP as an Associate before transitioning to Partner. In 2000, she was named Counsel in the firm's Corporate Group where she focused primarily on technology and IP transactions. Over the course of nearly 30 years, she advised businesses, associations and individuals on all aspects of IP and advertising, prepared and negotiated agreements, and secured copyright and international trademark protection for her clients. She also developed marketing policies and procedures for clients and built standardized training programs for both legal and nonlegal audiences.
Stanek is a mediator on the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois' Lanham Act Voluntary Mediation Panel of Mediators and, since 2004, has served as a Domain Name Panelist for the World Intellectual Property Organization. She recently co-authored a chapter on "Advertising and IP Issues" in the fourth edition of the Intellectual Property Deskbook for the Business Lawyer published by the American Bar Association in 2019.
Stanek holds a bachelor's degree from Loyola University of Chicago and a JD from the University of Chicago Law School, where she graduated with honors.
