Back-to-school event returns to DuPage Airport

West Chicago students will have a chance to learn about careers in aviation during the third annual DuPage Airport Back-to-School Celebration.

The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, at the airport, 2700 International Drive, and gives students an opportunity to sit in airplane cockpits; explore airport fire and rescue vehicles; climb on airport maintenance and snow removal equipment; experience flight simulators; and see vintage aircraft, military planes and more.

Attendees will get to meet first responders from the West Chicago police and fire protection district, members of the Boy Scouts Three Fires Council and Civil Air Patrol, representatives from the Red Cross and West Chicago Mayor Ruben Pineda.

Food and refreshments will be provided.

Admission to the event is free, but advance registration is requested at dpabacktoschool.eventbrite.com.

The DuPage Airport is a business aviation facility, operating 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. For details, visit www.dupageairport.com.
