Red, White & Blue Cheesecake Celebrates Local Veterans

In honor of America's Independence, Palm Court in Arlington Heights will donate a portion of proceeds from the sale of its Mixed Berry Cheesecake to Honor Flight Chicago during the month of July. This red, white and blue, velvety smooth cheesecake delivers a delightful treat to Palm Court patrons and a sweet experience for senior veterans who dedicated their life to secure America's freedom.

Founded in 2008, Honor Flight Chicago recognizes the bravery, sacrifice and patriotism of America's senior war veterans with an all-expense-paid, one-of-a-kind journey to Washington, D.C., for a day of honor, thanks and inspiration. Their Honor Flight is only one day, but the experience is life-changing.

Palm Court's owner George Theodossopoulus is ecstatic to partner with Honor Flight Chicago.

"Many of our patrons are senior veterans and there is no better way to honor their commitment and say 'thank you' than by giving back", Theodossopoulus said. Since purchasing the iconic restaurant in late 2018, George has been committed to giving back to the community. Honor Flight Chicago is the restaurant's second initiative, in April, the restaurant honored children with Autism by raising funds for the Autism Hero Project.

Honor Flight's mission is to fly our senior war heroes to Washington, D.C., for a day of honor at the memorials built in tribute to them. This is done at no cost to the veteran and is intended as a heartfelt thank you for their sacrifice and service to a grateful nation. Many of our nation's senior war heroes who risked their lives never received the recognition they deserved when they returned from service. Chicago is the largest hub in the national Honor Flight Network, having to-date flown more than 8,300 WWII, Korean War and Vietnam War veterans to visit their national war memorials.
