Ecker Center for Mental Health gets renovation grant for group therapy room

Ecker Center for Mental Health is pleased to announce the award of a 2019 Community Partnership Grant from the Painters District Council No. 30.

In her May 2 awards letter, Marisa L. Richards, outreach and engagement program manager, said, "We enjoyed learning about your organization and we commend you on working diligently to affect positive change within the communities you serve."

The renovation projects are performed by their union members who are highly trained professionals that take pride in their work and continuously seek opportunities to volunteer their skills, showcase their craft, and give back.

Juan Gonzalez arrived at the Ecker Center this morning at 7 a.m. with supplies for patching, repairing and priming the walls of the Psycho-Social Rehabilitation Group therapy room.

Breanne Williams, PSR supervisor, was delighted to hear about the grant renovation and she chose paint that is a soft light blue color. The room, which is the site of the group therapy meetings, is one of Ecker's most utilized rooms.

Thanks again to the Painters District Council No. 30 for this wonderful gift to Ecker clients and staff.

The renovation grant has made so many staff and clients happy with the news that professional painters are making this much used room beautiful!

In fiscal year 2018, the Ecker Center served 3,114 people in the community. The mental health organization, founded in 1955, offers an array of comprehensive outpatient services for individuals with mental illness. It has three locations: 1845 Grandstand Place in Elgin; 409 Illinois Ave., Unit 1A in St. Charles; and 1535 Burgundy Parkway in Streamwood.
