FSD79 Again Earns Meritorious Budget Award

Fremont School District 79 has been recognized by the Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) for excellence in budget presentation with the Meritorious Budget Award (MBA) for the 2018-2019 budget year. This is the seventh consecutive year Fremont School District 79 has received the award.

The recognition reflects the commitment of Fremont School District 79 in achieving the highest standards of budgeting. The Meritorious Budget Award designation is the result of an objective external evaluation of the overall management and communication of the school district's budget.

"We are very honored to once again be named a recipient of the Meritorious Budget Award," said FSD79 Superintendent of Schools Dr. Bill Robertson. "This award is a well-deserved representation of the hard work and commitment of our Business Office personnel to implement high-quality standards for fiscal practices."

Participants submit their applications and budget documents to a panel of school financial professionals who review the materials for compliance with the MBA Criteria Checklist and other requirements and provide expert feedback that districts can use to improve their budget documents. Districts that successfully demonstrate they have met the necessary program requirements may earn either the MBA or Pathway to the MBA, an introductory program that allows districts to ease into full MBA compliance.

"Districts that apply to the MBA or Pathway to the MBA programs recognize their community needs to be able to easily find and understand important district financial information," ASBO International Director of Recognition Programs Molly Barrie said. "Awarded budget documents are accurate, easy to read, and communicate the district's goals and objectives. Reviewer comments help districts continually improve their budget presentation-which is one reason districts apply each year."
