Chicago's Beyond Sports Foundation earns grant

The Beyond Sports Foundation has been named a recipient of the PwC Charitable Foundation's Reimagine Grant, a $25,000 award that benefits underserved populations in local communities.

Beyond Sports, a Chicagoland organization that utilizes sports as a vehicle for positive change, will use the grant to expand their student-athletes' professional development program by offering new courses in areas such as nutrition, financial literacy and social justice.

"We are incredibly honored by this distinction from the PwC Charitable Foundation," Beyond Sports Executive Director Alec Brown said. "This grant will provide essential tools for our student-athletes, thereby expanding their opportunities to excel in all facets of life."

The Beyond Sports Foundation provides academic and athletic training that ensure its students are eligible for college scholarships, with many members being the first in their families to go on to earn a four-year degree.

In addition to its rigorous tutoring and elite athletic training programs, the foundation provides professional workshops to build essential life skills that prepare its student-athletes for life beyond their collegiate or professional athletic careers.

The Beyond Sports Foundation, however, has a proven track record for success: 98 percent of their student-athletes have been offered a college scholarship, while 100 percent have enrolled and 88 percent have completed college.

The foundation is currently accepting new student applications. Visit www.beyondsports.org.
