Elgin Vineyard to start new church in Streamwood

Vineyard Church of Elgin recently announced that it will be giving birth to a new church in Streamwood - another Vineyard congregation - in the early part of 2019.

Jason and Betsy Patrick will co-pastor Streamwood Vineyard and already have a team of committed volunteers who plan to go with them to help plant the church. Jason currently serves as community pastor (previously also as youth pastor) at Elgin Vineyard, and Betsy has been director of the Kingdom Kids program.

"The mission of the church is fairly simple," Jason Patrick said. "Jesus told us to love God, love people and to put our lives on display so others can see. That's what we plan on doing in Streamwood.

"We believe that churches exist for the communities that they are in, and we are excited to serve the Village of Streamwood however we can," he said.

This will be the third time the Elgin Vineyard has planted a new congregation. Church planting is one of the highest priorities in the Association of Vineyard Churches, a denomination of more than 2,400 churches worldwide.

In anticipation of the departure of the team in February, Elgin Vineyard will return to offering just one service on Sunday mornings, beginning with its Family Christmas Service at 10 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 23.

Jason Patrick will give the message, "Inbreaking: The Power of Love," to wrap up this year's Advent series.

The service will last about an hour. Guests are welcome to come by early, beginning at 9:30 a.m., to enjoy a free cup of coffee from the selection available downstairs.

On Christmas Eve, Dec. 24, Vineyard will celebrate the birth of the Savior with a candlelight service at 4 p.m. Everyone is invited to attend.

Vineyard Church of Elgin is located at 220 Division St.
