Lazarus House's Giving Tree on display at Geneva History Museum

Geneva East Book Club has decorated the Lazarus House Giving Tree to remind everyone that homelessness is not just black and white. The tree represents the upcoming gala theme, "Phantom of the Opera," which will be held Jan. 26 at the Q Center.

Lazarus House is always there to provide a safe, warm and caring place when life seems out of control. Having a warm meal and a place to sleep can make all the difference in the world to a person in need.

The public is invited to vote for their favorite tree at the Geneva History Museum located at 113 S. Third St. or online at genevahistorymuseum.org with donation dollars.

Lazarus House was voted the No. 1 tree in 2016 and 2017. Voting continues through Saturday, Dec. 22. The museum sells tickets for $1 and there is no limit to the number of times an individual can vote.

The winning organization keeps 100 percent of the funds pledged to support their tree. The remaining organizations split the winnings with the museum. Lazarus House is a 501(c)3 nonprofit Emergency Shelter and Center for Transitional Living serving men, women, and children from Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles and western rural Kane County.
