Palatine Township Accepting Property Tax Appeals Through December 27, 2018

Palatine Township will be accepting Cook County Board of Review property tax appeals now through December 27, 2018.

The Township Assessor's Office, located at 721 S. Quentin Road in Palatine, can assist residents with the appeals by walking them through how to fill out required forms, finding comparable properties, and submitting the appeals to the Cook County Board of Review. Residents are asked to bring their current tax bill with them, and no appointment is needed.

"We invite our Township residents to take advantage of this free service to assist them with filing a property tax appeal," said Palatine Township Assessor Terry Kelly. "Residents can also attend one of two seminars held in the first week of December which help them to better understand the appeal process."

The seminars will be led by Cook County Commissioner Dan Patlak on Wednesday, December 5 and Thursday, December 6 at Palatine Village Hall, 200 E. Wood Street in Palatine. Both begin at 6:30 p.m. Residents need only attend one of the seminars, but are not required to do so in order to file an appeal.

This property tax appeal will be reflected on the 2018 second installment tax bill, payable in 2019.

Please Note: If residents would like to file an appeal and are part of a homeowner's association, or live in a condominium, please check first with the association to determine if they will be hiring an attorney to file the 2018 Board of Review appeal.

The Assessor's office is open Monday from 8:30 a.m. until 7:00 p.m., Tuesday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. until 4:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 8:30 a.m. until noon. Township offices will be closed for the holidays on Monday, December 24 and Tuesday, December 25.
