Mount Prospect Jaycees host 55th Annual Turkey Trot

2018 will mark the 55th year of the Mount Prospect Jaycees Turkey Trot. This event started in 1963, when the chapter was still all Male as a way for the members to get the families out of the house and spend time together while their Thanksgiving dinner was cooking.

Always as a family-friendly event has been the vision which is why the Jaycees insists on keeping the cost of registration low. When the Trot started the longest distance was one mile and over the years it has progressed to 3.1 miles as a 5k themed event.

The chapter still hosts the one-mile run at the beginning to continue the tradition. This year the event being held at Melas Park (1500 Central Rd, Mt. Prospect, IL.) The start time for the races this year is 8:00 AM for the 1 mile and 8:30 AM for the 5k. Due to the tremendous popularity of this event in the past, all runners are urged to pre-register for this event via the online registration form https://www.roadid.com/a/event-calendar/events/3252-mount-prospect-jaycees-55th-annual-turkey-trot. The first 200 runners will be guaranteed this year's shirt and the top three runners in each age group will earn a medal.

The Mount Prospect Jaycees is a locally based chapter part of JCI USA focus on providing development opportunities that empower young people 18- 40 to create positive change in their community and around the world.
