Women's Club of Inverness and Countdown to Christmas event on November 16

Women's Club of Inverness (WCI) Fall Event 2018 Committee, under the guidance of chairs Karen Spering and Cheryl Trzupek, have planned a fundraiser to celebrate Christmas traditions and memories. Held at Meridian Banquet and Conference Center (1701 Algonquin Road, Rolling Meadows), WCI members and their guests will enjoy a nostalgic flashback to ignite the 2018 season with Memories of Christmas Past, held on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 9:30 am to 3:00 pm.

Tickets are $65 and reservations can be made with Kathy Hickey by calling 847-496-5531 or emailing wci.event.information@gmail.com.

In addition to a vendor boutique to jumpstart holiday shopping, there will be complimentary how-to demonstrations to get you and your home ready for the season. Santa may come early for those guests taking a chance with the 50/50 cash raffle or the themed raffle baskets. New this year is a reverse auction for guests to directly support the WCI scholarship and philanthropy grant programs.

Dessert is not the only sweet surprise with the plated luncheon. Featured speaker Amy Meadows will share personal stories from her 25-year Marshall Field's career, revealing what was involved to design, fabricate and install the Walnut Room Christmas Tree and State Street's magical windows.

Two sponsors have already played Santa to WCI. Michael J. Murphy, an attorney with Piercey & Associates, Ltd. of Barrington, commented about being an Event Sponsor. Murphy said, "Piercey & Associates, Ltd. is honored to sponsor the Women's Club of Inverness. As a law firm founded on Christian ideals, we too strongly believe in helping those who are truly in need. Accordingly, our firm applauds WCI for its rich history of philanthropy, the great benefits which its grant and scholarship programs bring to the communities it serves, and the profound difference its good works have on humanity overall."

Palatine Bank & Trust, a Wintrust community bank, has been a sponsor to support the WCI mission the last several years. Deborah Armstrong, president of Palatine Bank & Trust, explained the key reason for this continuation, "Palatine Bank & Trust, located in downtown Palatine, is a branch of Barrington Bank & Trust Co., N.A. which is one of the 15 chartered community banks of Wintrust. We believe in supporting local organizations, like WCI, that focus on strengthening our community."

These two key sponsors join a number of members and local businesses who have been generous with time, talent, and financial resources to insure a successful event. Serving in her first year as club president, Karen Spering noted, "WCI shares a keen connection to Inverness and the surrounding communities. Through their support of our fundraising efforts, we are able to make a difference for women, children and seniors in need." All event proceeds are returned to the community through scholarships and grants awarded in May 2019 at the conclusion of the membership year.
