League of Women Voters to host forums Oct. 19, 21

The League of Women Voters of Central Kane County is hosting two forums before the Nov. 6 General Election. A candidate forum will be held Friday, Oct. 19, and a forum on the home rule referendum question is set for Sunday, Oct. 21.

On Friday, Oct. 19, the forum will feature candidates for Kane County Board (Districts 11, 13, and 15), Kane County Treasurer, Kane County Clerk and Kane County Sheriff.

The forum will also feature candidates from State Representative Districts 49 and 65 and State Senate District 33. The forum will begin at 630 p.m. at the Batavia City Hall, 100 N. Island Ave.

Candidates invited to attend are: State House District 49 candidates Tonia Jane Khouri and Karina Villa; State House District 65 candidates Dan Ugaste and Richard Johnson; State Senate District 33 candidates Nancy Zettler and Don DeWitte; Kane County Sheriff candidates Donald Kramer and Ronald Hain, Kane County Clerk Candidates John Cunningham and Nicholas Jimenez; and County Treasurer candidates David Rickert and Jason Snelson.

Additionally candidates for County Board seats in the 11, 13 and 15 district have been invited. They are District 11 candidates John Martin and Jody Kanikula, District 13 candidates Steve Weber and Lark Cowart and District 15 candidates Barbara Wojnicki and Lucas Strom.

On Sunday, Oct. 21, the forum will be a community event regarding the home rule referendum question on the ballot in Batavia. The forum will be moderated by the Citizens Advocacy Center, a nonprofit, nonpartisan community legal organization. It will be 4 to 6 p.m. at the Eastside Community Center, 14 N. Van Buren St. in Batavia.

Both the Vote No Keep Home Rule and the B4RG groups have been invited to participate.

Early voting begins on Oct. 22.

The League of Women Voters of Central Kane County serves Aurora, Batavia, Elburn, Geneva, North Aurora, St. Charles, and Sugar Grove and surrounding areas.
