Libertyville District 70 Schools Rank in Top 10 in Lake COunty for Attendance

Four of five Libertyville School District 70 schools were honored this week for being in the top 10 for the 30th annual Lake County Regional Office of Education Attendance Week competition.

School attendance matters. It is arguably one of the most important indicators of school success. Students who attend school regularly improve their chances of being academically successful.

Topping the list for "Large Elementary Schools" with more than 650 students was Highland Middle School with the number one ranking for an attendance of 98.23 percent.

In the "Small Elementary Schools" category, schools with fewer than 450 students, Adler Park School tied for second place with attendance of 98.99 percent, Copeland Manor School followed in third place with 98.68 percent and Rockland School came in at ninth place with attendance of 97.80 percent.

Staff members and students from each of the four schools attended a special breakfast award ceremony on Sept. 28, with students going on stage to accept the awards. Students who attended included from Copeland Manor School, Caroline Guiard and Abby Neff, along with Adler Park students Caroline Mahadevan and Liane Lin, Highland Middle School students Peter Chalifoux and Anna Mitchell, and Rockland students Olivia Colton and Claire Carollo.

All Lake County elementary schools are eligible to be recognized by the Regional School Superintendent for attendance week, which ran from Sept. 10-14 this year.
