Bartlett Park District Commissioner Resignation Creates Vacancy on Board

The Bartlett Park District would like to announce that it has a vacancy on the Board of Commissioners due to the resignation of a board member on September 18, 2018. The Board would like to encourage any Bartlett Park District resident who is interested in joining the board to apply for this opening. To be considered for this position the Park District is accepting letters of interest and qualifications through October 8, 2018 at 12 noon. These can be emailed to Executive Director, Rita Fletcher, at rfletcher@bartlettparks.org or mailed to Bartlett Park District Attn. Rita Fletcher, 696 W. Stearns Road, Bartlett, IL, 60103. The board will appoint a candidate to serve on the Board from October 2018 through April 2019. The final two years of this six year term will be decided as part of the consolidated election on April 2, 2019 with the term being May 2019 - May 2021. Informational binders about the election process and petitions can be picked up at the Thomas C. White Administration Office, 696 W. Stearns Road in Bartlett. Election documents for the April election must be filed at the Bartlett Park District between December 10th and December 17th.

The Board consists of seven Park Commissioners who are elected on a nonpartisan, at-large basis for a term of six years. The elected officials must be residents of the Bartlett Park District and have a vested interest in our community. Policy-making and legislative authority are entrusted to the Board of Commissioners and they are responsible for passing ordinances and resolutions, adopting the budget, appointing committees, setting policies, and hiring the Park District Executive Director. The Executive Director is responsible for carrying out the policies and ordinances of the Board, for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Park District.
