St. Alphonsus Liguori School celebrates 60 years of Catholic Education

St. Alphonsus Liguori School in Prospect Heights is proud to be celebrating 60 years of Catholic education in the Prospect Heights/Wheeling community. Over the years we have added a thriving early childhood education program for 3 & 4 year old students. We also offer full-day Kindergarten and 1st through 8th grade. The school year started off with a School/Parish family camp out on the 15 acre back yard. It was complete with a campfire, a feature length movie, a BBQ and an outdoor Sunday morning breakfast. It was a great way for new and current families to bond as well as an opportunity to meet the new pastor Fr. Joe Le and principal Janice DiVincenzo.

To help raise funds for new uniforms, the athletic department hosted McTeacher night at the Mt. Prospect McDonalds restaurant on Sept. 6. School families attended this event and packed the place for this St. Al's fundraiser. We have cross country, volleyball, basketball and track teams for both boys and girls and can start as young as 4th grade.

On September 7th, we had a special visitor, Dr. Jim Rigg, the Superintendent of Catholic Schools of the Chicago Archdiocese. He toured the campus with our new principal and visited all the teachers and their students. Dr. Rigg was very happy to see how we have grown in the last couple of years.

At St. Al's, students receive a well-rounded education to promote spiritual, academic, physical and emotional growth. In addition to excelling in academics, arts and athletics the students learn to serve others and become better disciples of Jesus. St. Alphonsus school is very excited to be celebrating sixty years of excellence in education and look forward to continued growth in our future.
