Suicide Prevention Services walk Sept. 8 to bring awareness

Join Suicide Prevention Services of America in a walk to bring awareness on Saturday, Sept. 8.

Join friends, parents, students and survivors in St. Charles to walk the path along the Fox River at Pottawatomie Park in St. Charles.

The walk is 3.1 miles. Registration begins at 8 a.m. with a balloon launch at 8:50 a.m. The walk starts at 9 a.m.

This walk is an awareness event - for those who have lost someone to suicide, for people who suffer from depression, and for people who have attempted or contemplated suicide. The event is also open to those who simply support the cause and want to help erase the stigma. The theme is "Together, We Walk."

Each walker will receive a custom donation link to begin fundraising. Each walker registered must raise a minimum of $50 in donations. Register by Tuesday, Sept. 4, to receive an event T-shirt.

Registration is available at www.spsamerica.org.

Those participating in the walk or donating pledges can honor the life of someone who died by suicide; show support to survivors of suicide; advance the cause of suicide prevention; learn how to prevent suicide; and acknowledge those suffering from depression

Proceeds from Suicide Prevention Services of America events and fundraisers stay in your local community to support its programs and services advancing the cause for suicide prevention.
