Edan Gelt Donates Vintage Candy Collection to National Confectioners Association: Terese McDonald of Candyality to Facilitate Transaction

More than twenty different types of candy developed in the mid 1980's will be donated to the National Confectioners Association. The candy was created by Edan Gelt's father, Myron Gelt, as part of a novelty candy series by Leaf Confectionary. The collection includes Chaw, Berries in a Basket, Secret Message Bubble Gum, Pennant Fever Bubble Gum, Eggums and more. His daughter Edan Gelt is looking forward to preserving and sharing her father's creations.

Terese McDonald of Candyality, in Chicago, facilitated the donation. Candyality carries thousands of bulk items and sweet treats including gummies, sours, taffy, and more, and has retail locations in three prominent Chicago zip codes. "We are thrilled to be able to facilitate the donation of this historic memorabilia", Terese McDonald of Candyality said. "The items will be enjoyed by many at the National Confectioners Association headquarters in Washington DC".

The candy donation comes almost 20 years after Myron Gelt's passing and more than 30 years after the candy was developed. Edan Gelt wasn't comfortable making the donation until she met McDonald. Recognizing the passion and perseverance Terese had in making her own Candyality brand thrive in the Chicago market, Gelt knew she found the right person to keep her father's legacy alive.

"Growing up, my sister and I would serve as an impromptu focus group while my father crafted wooden candy concepts and prototypes in his workroom of our Roselle home" Edan Gelt said. "My father was an extremely creative, kind and funny man. I'm excited that his legacy can live on and be appreciated by candy aficionados".

Terese McDonald and Edan Gelt met while working on the inaugural Candyality 5K http://candy5k.com/. The candy themed walk/run takes place at Lincoln Park in Chicago on September 22, 2018 and includes a candy themed course, multi-colored shirts, finisher medal, and a custom candy bag created by Candyality. The race, promoted by Adrenaline Special Events and Candyality, benefits Girl Forward - a community of support dedicated to creating and enhancing opportunities for girls who have been displaced by conflict and persecution.
