Paddle, walk and run for fun at Family Triathlon

Spend the morning enjoying fitness, paddle boats and obstacles at Schaumburg Park District's Family Triathlon.

Open to children ages 3 to 7 and their parents, the kid-friendly triathlon is set for 10 a.m. to noon, Aug. 25 at Volkening Lake, 900 W. Schaumburg Road. Events include paddle boating, completing an obstacle course and walking or running around the lake. A fitness instructor will lead families in a cool down activity. Each participant will receive a finisher's medal.

"We wanted to host an event for little ones to promote the benefits of staying active and healthy," said Teresa Varco, early childhood supervisor. "This is not a competition, but more of an opportunity for families to spend time together having fun."

Cost is $7 per child for residents and $9 per child for non-residents. All children must register in order to participate.
