Free tours of backyard paradises continue Aug. 18 in Aurora/Oswego area

The summer Aquascape Construction Water & Garden Showcase - the only free outdoor water and garden experience of its kind throughout the Chicago area - continues Saturday, Aug. 18 in the Aurora/Oswego area with free, self-guided tours of eight beautiful home gardens, water features and ponds of various sizes.

The showcase includes on-site tours, a $100 raffle, and tips on what's trending in water features and outdoor living.

Open to the public rain or shine, visit at your own pace, one property or all, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Visitors will see water features of all sizes, shapes and styles. Gardens mirror the beauty of water features, with a diverse array of seasonal flowers, plants, shrubs and trees.

Kids will have fun discovering and learning about aquatic life, including koi, catfish, goldfish, turtles and frogs.

The event also includes how-to's from gardening pros at the "Pond Central" location. Amanda Thomsen of Kiss My Aster demonstrates out-of-the-box container gardens at 11 a.m. Garden Boss William Moss of Get Out & Grow gets kids involved outdoors at 1 p.m.

The Showcase is held the third Saturday of each summer month through September and gives visitors from all over the Chicago area a peek at diverse residential water features and gardens in Chicago-area communities.

The series concludes with a Fall Festival and Nighttime Celebration, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 15, at Aquascape Construction, 901 Aqualand Way in St. Charles.
