Consider donating to support 'Day in the Park' July 11

The St. Charles Noon Kiwanis Club is asking the community for help to reach its $7,500 goal to support the Fox Valley Special Recreation Association's annual "Day in the Park" event on Wednesday, July 11.

The event which emphasizes inclusive recreation will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Pottawotomie Park in St. Charles.

This 20-year collaborative effort continues to bring together FVRSA campers with special needs and campers from the St. Charles, Batavia, Fox Valley, Geneva, Oswegoland and Sugar Grove park districts and the South Elgin Park and Recreation Department.

More than 900 campers are expected to attend this event where they will learn about one another's abilities through inclusive play.

Activities will include bounce houses, obstacle courses, slides, games, crafts, dancing, and a live magic and illusion show!

Any donations made will be used towards to the costs of these activities. Day in the Park strives to enhance public awareness of therapeutic recreation programs for individuals with disabilities.

The St. Charles Kiwanis Club is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time. It is a local club of 75 members. Club members cherish the opportunity and commitment to support this wonderful "Day in the Park" with volunteers and financial support.

The Fox Valley Special Recreation Association provides a diverse range of year-round recreation and leisure activities to enable residents with disabilities to experience active, healthy, and playful lifestyles.
