Historian John Moore Discuss Captain Cook's Final Voyage by James K. Barnett

It has been 240 years since Captain James Cook discovered Hawaii. Join Historian John Moore in discussing "Captain Cook's Final Voyage" by James K. Barnett published in January, 2018.

Captain Cook was commissioned by the British Admiralty in July, 1776, to map the Americas Pacific coastline. While doing so he discovered the Hawaiian Islands. This book gives eyewitness accounts of the captain's third exploratory voyage, which includes the story of Cook's death.

John Moore earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in history from Northern Illinois University, Magna Cum Laude, and in his retirement he offers a series of afternoon lectures at the library entitled "History Revealed "with various interesting historical topics.

Moore will discuss this book at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, at the Prospect Heights Public Library, 12 N. Elm St., Prospect Heights. Books can be picked up at the Prospect Heights Public Library's Circulation Desk. Please call the library at (847) 259-3500 with any questions.
