Elk Grove Township Offering Two Summer Internships

Elk Grove Township is currently accepting applications for two, paid summer internships that will provide comprehensive, hands-on experience working for Township government. Applicants should be in their junior or senior year in college, and be proficient in using email, and with Microsoft products including Outlook, Word and Excel.

"We are proud to be offering opportunities for college students to gain first-hand experiences working in local government," said Elk Grove Township Supervisor Mike Sweeney. "We are looking for individuals interested in contributing to the Township's core philosophy of empowering people through community."

The first internship is being offered through the General Assistance Department. Applicants should be majoring in social work, human services or a related field, be compassionate about providing assistance to in-need residents, and able to lift approximately 25 pounds to help stock the shelves of the Food Pantry as part of their duties.

Township Administration is also offering an internship, which will include learning first-hand about how local government organizations function, in addition to assisting with program planning and development to benefit Township residents. The intern will attend Township meetings, as well as meetings with local government bodies and community partners, and gain work experience in all areas of operation including administration, finance and transportation.

Resumes with a cover letter are due by Friday, May 11, 2018, and should state which internship is being sought, and why the individual is qualified to be chosen for the internship. These materials can be emailed to ppioch@elkgrovetownship.com or mailed to: Elk Grove Township, Attn. Paul Pioch, 2400 S. Arlington Heights Road, Arlington Heights, Illinois 60005.
