Adler Center Presents Piano and Flute Duo with 'Jazzy French Flair'

Musicians, and Libertyville High School faculty members, Claire Birmingham and Laurel Kaiser will perform French composers with jazzy flair at the David Adler Music and Arts Center on Friday, April 27 at 7pm as part of the Adler Center's popular concert series.

Flutist and pianist Laurel Kaiser says, "I adore French music: it is intimate, sensuous, forward-thinking yet approachable." Their concert will feature a wide variety of expressive pieces for flute and piano, solo piano, and four-handed piano.

"There will be some different repertoire-things people haven't heard," says pianist and Adler Faculty member, Claire Birmingham. "It's an all-French program, but it's not just the normal Ravel and Debussy," she says. "There's a suite for flute and jazz piano by Claude Bolling. It's really the piece de resistance-it's called 'Baroque and Blue.' It's a really fantastic piece."

"I am looking forward to playing with Claire - we both love the same kind of music and she digs into the music like I do!" says Kaiser.

"I love the atmosphere here, and working with my fellow faculty. The venue is truly unique," says Birmingham.

Tickets may be purchased online at www.adlercenter.org or by calling 847-367-0707. Early booking is recommended, as seating in the Adler Center Ballroom is limited.
