St. Charles East alum to perform with U. of Michigan Men's Glee Club Feb. 16

When the University of Michigan Men's Glee Club takes the stage for its Feb. 16 concert at the Norris Cultural Arts Center, one of its members will feel a distinct "home court advantage."

Palmer Corbett, a baritone in the Glee Club, is a 2015 graduate of St. Charles East High School. Now a junior at University of Michigan majoring in mechanical engineering, Corbett will return to the Norris stage where he performed regularly on the saxophone and violin as a member of the St. Charles East band and orchestra.

"It will be great to come home and perform in familiar surroundings with the Glee Club," Corbett said. "I've enjoyed performing around the country and even in South Africa on tours with the Glee Club, but coming back to St. Charles will be a special occasion."

In addition to his musical endeavors at East High School, Corbett also sang in the choir at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in St. Charles, where his mother, Monica Corbett, directs the children's music program.

The University of Michigan Men's Glee Club is one of the longest-established collegiate choral groups, founded in 1859. Praised as one of the finest male choruses in the world, the ensemble has performed throughout the U.S. and internationally. The Glee Club is renowned for its wide musical repertoire, ranging from Renaissance motets, romantic anthems, opera choruses, folk songs and contemporary works.

The concert will be at 7:30 p.m. at the Norris Cultural Arts Center, 1040 Dunham Road in St. Charles.

General admission tickets for the Feb. 16 concert at the Norris Cultural Arts Center are available by calling (630) 584-7200 or by visiting www.NorrisCulturalArts.com.
