Enjoy Historic Long Grove and its Holiday Charms This Season

The quaint setting that is historic Long Grove, is something that has created memories for area residents and visitors for more than half a century. During the holidays, the Village is especially unique in that it celebrates the season with an exciting variety of attractions and offerings that make the holidays that much more memorable for individuals and families alike.

Visitors can take a horse-drawn carriage ride through town, as they revel in holiday cheer and trot by historic structures and buildings, complete with seasonal decorations, costumed holiday carolers, visits from Santa and Mrs. Claus (with complimentary pictures) along with shopping and dining opportunities all-around.

"One of the things that sets Long Grove apart, is its nod to yesteryear with a modern feel, something we are so fortunate to have - you don't find many places quite like Long Grove," said Village President Bill Jacob. "There are countless choices for holiday shoppers to find out-of-the ordinary items not available in malls or departments stores, in a place that provides a true holiday experience."

The Historic Downtown Long Grove Business Association (HDLGBA) is offering holiday visitors incentives to shop in Long Grove, which includes a free gift, while supplies last through the holiday season. There are also a variety of restaurant options to enjoy while people are out and about in the Village.

In addition to the nostalgic setting that is the downtown area, visitors can take advantage of a number of holiday attractions throughout December made possible by the HDLGBA, in partnership with the Village of Long Grove.

These include the Yuletide Sing Along on Saturday, December 9, 2017, a Santa visit at the Reed-Turner Woodland Preserve Sunday, December 10, complimentary horse-drawn carriage rides on Saturdays and Sundays from noon until 5:00 p.m. through Saturday, December 17, as well as strolling costumed carolers spreading holiday cheer through the singing of festive songs.

Santa and Mrs. Claus will make regular appearances in the downtown area as well, and those who catch them can take advantage of free pictures in front of the Long Grove Visitor's Center, located at the Village main downtown intersection at Robert Parker Coffin and Old McHenry roads.

For more information on holiday events and activities, in addition to shopping incentives from the HDLGBA, please visit the association's website at longgrove.org.

So, as you can see, there are a number of exciting reasons to step into the past for a day or two, enjoy holiday fun, shopping and dining options, and experience the old-world holiday charm that historic Long Grove has to offer.
