Kaneland Harter School holds fundraiser at Elburn McDonald's

Kaneland Harter Middle School held a McTeacher's Night at the Elburn McDonald's on Center Avenue on Wednesday, May 24. A McTeacher's Night is organized to help raise money for local schools by having teachers work at McDonald's and then giving a percentage of the night's sales to the Sugar Grove school, part of Kaneland Unit District 302.

On Wednesday, the restaurant was taken over by teachers excited to serve freshly prepared meals to students and their families to raise money for Kaneland Harter Middle School. The students and families were excited to see their teachers and principal behind the counter and throughout the restaurant.

The McTeacher's jobs included greeting guests, cleaning the lobby, working the front counter, serving drinks, clearing tables, making ice cream cones and even helping in the drive- thru where Spanish teacher Jason Lim had a blast singing the McDonald's jingle every time he received a tip in the tip jar, where all proceeds went directly to the school.

The Chicago Bulls IncrediBulls made a special appearance and entertained everyone by having individuals shoot a mini ball into a mini hoop to win a free Chicago Bulls T-shirt. Many kids left with free shirts.

To wrap up the evening, the school's choir, Mid-Knight Special, sang a few songs for everyone to enjoy. Principal Brian Faulkner had fun dancing and singing to the music.

A special thank you goes to Family Knights Out Committee member Bea Cadenas, who organized the event as well as everyone that worked and attended the event.

The PTO plans to put the money into the general funds to be used for the school and student needs.
