New Superintendent for D26

The Board of Education has spent the last several months conducting an extensive search for the new superintendent of River Trails District 26 schools. The district is excited to share that the Board has selected Dr. Nancy Wagner to be the next superintendent of schools. Dr. Wagner has served as the Superintendent at Beach Park School District 3 since 2014 and before that was the Assistant Superintendent for Teaching and Learning at Community Consolidated School District 59 in Arlington Heights. The District 26 Board of Education took formal action toward approving Dr. Wagner's employment at the May 2, 2017 Board of Education meeting. Her employment begins July 1, 2017.

The Board feels fortunate to have had the opportunity to review a pool of highly qualified applicants for this critical leadership position. Gathering feedback from all the stakeholder groups was a key component to help the Board make a decision on the needs of the district. We greatly appreciate that many provided their input through the online survey and the in-focus group sessions.

Please know that a confidential committee composed of representatives from the administration, parent leadership, union leadership, and the support staff and teaching communities also provided their valuable input about the final group of candidates. All of this was taken into consideration and certainly helped the Board toward their final decision.
