Frank talk from White Sox hitting coach
The White Sox scored 9 runs in three straight games heading into Wednesday night's meeting with the Twins, and hitting coach Frank Menechino is thrilled with the approach up and down the lineup.
"Guys are really starting to learn the strike zone, not chase," Menechino said. "You get guys that are starting to hit the ball, all of the sudden, I don't know if it's a confidence level or whatever happens but hitting's contagious. The good thing about our team is that it's a different guy every night. It's a different two or three guys every night, everyone's contributing. So that's good to see."
Home runs are still in short supply, even after Yasmani Grandal and Jose Abreu went deep in Tuesday's 9-3 win over Minnesota.
The Sox are last in the American League in homers and that's just fine with Menechino.
"Everybody wants to see the home run," he said. "I don't want to get excited but (bleep) the home run. Let's hit .300, then we will worry about the other stuff later. If you're living by the home run all the time and not being able to produce runs, it's not conducive to winning baseball."
