Sox RF Eaton appeals one-game suspension for role in incident vs. Indians

Adam Eaton was in the White Sox lineup Tuesday night after receiving a one-game suspension and fine for his actions in last Thursday's game against the Indians at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The right fielder was going to sit out the game at Cleveland, but he'll appeal the ruling.

Last week's incident happened in the first inning, when Eaton singled and was out trying to advance to second base.

Feeling he was pushed off the bag by Indians shortstop Andres Gimenez, Eaton got to his feet and nearly started a brawl. Both benches cleared, but that was the extent of the melee.

Eaton did push Gimenez and also had words with Cleveland second baseman Cesar Hernandez.

"They both play the game really the right way," Eaton said. "I let the emotions kind of get the best of me there just because I felt like any time you get pushed off the bag when you are safe, it's a little frustrating."

Hernandez and Indians outfielder Jake Bauers were both fined.
