Anthony Miller not on George McCaskey's good side

Even with one year remaining on his contract, Anthony Miller's future with the Bears could be in doubt.

The 26-year-old receiver was last seen walking off the field at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome after he was ejected from the Bears' wild-card playoff loss to the New Orleans Saints. Miller was ejected for shoving Saints safety C.J. Gardner-Johnson.

It was the second time this season that Gardner-Johnson goaded a Bears receiver into an ejection - after Javon Wims was ejected from a Nov. 1 game against the Saints for punching Gardner-Johnson. Head coach Matt Nagy said Sunday that the Bears devoted an entire meeting to warning players about Gardner-Johnson's antics in the week leading up to the playoff game.

Miller still fell for the trash talk.

In an interview on ESPN 1000's "Waddle and Silvy" show Thursday, Bears chairman George McCaskey said he has a bigger problem with Miller's ejection than with Wims' because the team was warned about Gardner-Johnson before the wild-card game.

Here's what McCaskey said:

"In the first instance, Javon acted impulsively. He let another player get the better of him. He acted up. He was immediately remorseful. He served his suspension, he said he would do better, and he came back and worked his butt off to try to help the team.

"I have a bigger problem with Anthony's ejection because they sat them down and they told them, 'Listen, watch out for this player, he's a punk, he's going to try to get under your skin. And with Darnell Mooney out, we really need you to be in this game and help this team.' And Anthony had the benefit of having seen Javon's experience.

"So I think that they need to be evaluated separately."

Asked if that meant Miller's future with the team was in doubt, McCaskey said: "That's not up to me."

The Bears chose Miller in the second round of the 2018 draft. He played in all 16 regular-season games this season with 49 receptions for 485 yards and 2 touchdowns.
