In their own words: Blackhawks talk about losing Seabrook

Blackhawks' reactions to news that Brent Seabrook will miss the rest of the season:Jonathan Toews on how strange the next 3 months will be:

"I was just thinking that this morning. (It's) day one - pretty much - that he's not around. You notice it right away. He's one of those vocal guys that sits in here and the lounge and everywhere you go. He's one of the biggest talkers and just social guys in the room that brings a lot of energy every day. You miss his presence for sure."

Patrick Kane on taking over as an alternate captain:

"I'd rather not wear it on my jersey and have Seabs wear it, to be honest with you. But you get to wear letter for the Blackhawks, an organization that I've been a part of for 13 years now and has done some great things. ... It definitely means something. I feel like I'm part of that leadership group with Duncs, Seabs and Tazer. Those are the guys that wear the letter and deservingly so. I'd rather have Seabs in the lineup ... but it's definitely still a big honor."

Duncan Keith on Seabrook playing through the injuries:

"Anybody else, they probably would have been missing a lot more time than that over the course of the last several seasons. Shows the mentality and the type of person that he is. Maybe it's a little bit stubborn and some people might say maybe it's not smart in some ways to battle through that, but that's the type of attitude you need. You win with guys like that, who are willing to play through pain."

Coach Jeremy Colliton:

"He's got a high pain threshold. Played a lot of games, been very durable, dependable. A lot of big games. So, yeah, he's definitely an example to the younger players about how to play no matter what. Show up for the team."

Kirby Dach, who is living with Seabrook's family:

"To see him going down this path, it (stinks). But at the same time you know he needs to take care of his body and (he) gave so much to this team throughout the many years and Cup runs. ... As a player, the biggest thing when you're done playing is that your teammates remember you, and Brent's going to remembered as a great hockey player but (an) even better teammate and friend."
