Girls volleyball: Buffalo Grove tops Rolling Meadows
Buffalo Grove's girls volleyball team completed a 2-3 run at the Glenbrook North tournament on Saturday by defeating Mid-Suburban East rival Rolling Meadows 25-12, 20-25, 25-12.
Leading the Bison on attack were Shannon Coglianese (14 kills) and Megan Mitsunaga (10 kills). Claire Schneider handed out 16 assists while Jenna Rickman served 4 aces.
Earlier in the day, Maine South edged the Bison 25-23, 23-25, 26-24 as Coglianese put down 17 kills. Mitsunaga added 6 and Schneider collected 27 assists.
The Bison are now 12-16 overall.
At Schaumburg: St. Viator (13-18) posted wins over Grayslake Central (28-26, 25-20) and Larkin (25-14, 25-14) while going 2-3 at the Schaumburg Invite.
Top attackers for the Lions were Marcelina Gorny (26 kills), Lilly LaFleur (22), Marie Torosian (21), Lauren Allaire (14) and Serafina DeMunno (13), who also had a team-high 7 blocks.
Erin Aldana (71 assists) and Cailyn Harrington (24) set the offense for the Lions, who received 31 digs from Reanne Valera. Torosian added 16 and Aldana had 12.
At Antioch: Lakes won the championship of the Elaine Lonergan tournament followed by Lake Forest, Palatine (17-9), Antioch and Trinity.
