Boys golf: Waubonsie Valley's Troy is medalist at regional

The showdown between the respective champions of the DuKane and DuPage Valley conferences came to fruition Monday at Fox Bend.

Waubonsie Valley senior Will Troy continued his sterling play with a medalist 1-under-par 71 at the Class 3A Oswego East boys golf regional.

But Wheaton Warrenville South claimed the team title behind DuKane Conference champion Ben Klimenko; the senior fired a 75 to lead the Tigers to a 312-313 victory over both the Warriors and Oswego.

All three schools advanced to the Glenbard West sectional at Village Links of Glen Ellyn.

"It was a very challenging course," Waubonsie Valley coach Eric Flodberg said. "The pins were tucked. There weren't that many scores in the 70s."
