Pitching matchups: White Sox's Ivan Nova (9-10) vs. Max Fried (14-4) Friday at 6:20 p.m.; Reynaldo Lopez (8-11) vs. Dallas Keuchel (5-5) Saturday at 6:20 p.m.; Lucas Giolito (14-7) vs. Julio Teheran (8-8) Sunday at 4:10 p.m.

At a glance: The The Sox hit the road after going 3-4 on a homestand vs. the Rangers and Twins. The White Sox closed it out with three straight losses to Minnesota and were outscored 21-8. Nova is 5-1 in 7 starts since July 22 and his 0.94 ERA is the best in baseball. In 4 starts vs. the Braves, Nova is 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA. This is only the Sox's second trip to Atlanta since interleague play began. In 2002, they were swept in a three-game series at old Turner Field. The Braves are in good shape to finish first in the NL East for the second straight season. Fried and Giolito were high school teammates at Harvard Westlake in Los Angeles.
